Helping Today

Our Goal is to Help Individuals in Need

Founded in February 2022 by Chief Michael Ifeanyi Okoye, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church Drama Club Foundation is a non profit organization aimed at alleviating poverty in underprivileged and underserved communities in Nigeria.

Our mission is simple…S.J.C.C. won’t stop until every family is healthy, educated, protected, and respected.

Since inception, over 100 families have benefited from the foundation through its numerous empowerment and intervention programs, including but not limited to the awarding of scholarships, financial aid, and healthcare costs.

SJCC has also supported families and local communities by providing financial assistance to petty traders, providing collateral free, soft loans to entrepreneurs in collaboration with a major Fintech startup in Nigeria.

We are lifting one another to greatness at S.J.C.C.!

If you are looking for a way to contribute to making the world a better place, you can help support our good cause.

Scholarship in SCRUM Master Training For Youths In Selected Low-income Communities Done & Dusted

S.J.C.C. Foundation is delighted to announce the successful completion of a Scholarship program in SCRUM Master training! 20 Humanitarian Workers and Change advocates who are passionate about volunteering and community service were awarded scholarships to acquire tech skills. After 8 weeks of training online and practicals, the graduants of this maiden edition of our Tech Scholarship are now furnished with the necessary tech skills that qualifies them for roles in the tech industry such as Scrummaster, Corporate Trainer, and other similar tech roles to impact the tech industry. These graduates have also earned an opportunity to earn better incomes for themselves. As S.J.C.C. Foundation continues to be committed to education for all through tutorials and scholarship programs for indigent children and youths in low income communities, we believe that community volunteers shouldn’t be left out. Sometimes even the helper needs help but they may not say it.

WORLD MALARIA DAY

Today, April 25th, is World Malaria Day! S.J.C.C. Foundation joins WHO and the rest of the world to take a moment to acknowledge the progress made in the fight against this deadly disease and renew our commitment to eradicating it.

Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by parasites transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. It’s a major public health burden, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions.

Here are some key facts:

  • In 2020, there were 241 million cases of malaria worldwide, resulting in 627,000 deaths
  • Africa had an estimated 68 million cases and 194,000 deaths due to malaria in 2021
  • Children under 5 and pregnant women are most vulnerable
  • Malaria prevention measures include insecticide-treated bed nets, indoor residual spraying, and antimalarial medications
  • Eliminating malaria requires sustained efforts, funding, and innovation

Let’s continue the fight against malaria! Together, we can make a difference through awareness, support, and action.

CELEBRATING GIRL POWER!

International Day of the Girl Child 2024: Girls' Vision for the Future

We’re thrilled to share the success of our program at DANVIC Leaders School, where we celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child!

Our team, along with resource persons, inspired and educated over 100 teenage girls on:

Managing stereotypes and low self-esteem
Overcoming peer pressure and gender inequality
Menstrual hygiene and health
Knowing their rights

But that’s not all! We also distributed sanitary towels to 100 students across DANVIC Schools (Kirikiri and Festac Town).

The event was a resounding success, thanks to our dedicated team, speakers, partners and donors.

Empowering Girls, Empowering the Future!

Joy To The World!

What more would bring joy to the world than Zero Hunger?

Food is a human right and it is an immediate and tangible way to help
someone.

This year alone, SJCC Foundation served over 3,800 hot plates of balanced diet meals to people in need in low income communities, Destitute camps, and shelter for homeless people in Lagos and Ibadan respectively. Making it a total of 14,400 meals served since our inception.

When you see the joy on their faces or hear the things they say after filling their stomach, you will realise that sometimes, making a difference in this world can be as simple as feeding the hungry, and improving childhood nutrition.

We remain grateful to our partners and donors, and our volunteers for all their support.

Meet Those Who Are In Need

The S.J.C.C. foundation provides great support to vulnerable people at a destitute centre in Lagos-Nigeria.

The Destitute centre is home to over 1,000 homeless people, including children and aged people. Most of them are physically challenged people, including lepers, visually impaired, mentally challenged, etc. Their major means of livelihood is their begging bowls and some of them live on less than $2 daily.

If you see the neglected place and people, you might not be able to hold yourself from tearing.

This place is jam-packed with more vulnerable people than it can accommodate, and diseases spread amongst the residents easily. No one deserves to live in a community like this. A community where wastewater from their toilet system leaks into their place of dwelling. Unfortunately, the residents of the centre live under these conditions and have accepted them as normal because they have no other options. The petrifying ooze emanating from the mess and the hot air is choking, yet they breathe and stay alive. Flies are everywhere; perching open wounds, defecation, and their food, but they eat the food anyways.

Through the help of our partners and donors, we provide them with decent meals, clothing, medication, diapers, money, and learning materials so children can receive a basic education.

If you would like to contribute to make a difference in their lives, click below to make your donation or contact us at the S.J.C.C. Foundation for more details.
